The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the PNP-Highway Patrol Group (HPG), and other local government units will join forces to remove the sidewalk vendors along EDSA starting November 1, in anticipation of the Christmas season, according to local reports.
Local reports say that Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras said that “ambulant vendors” will not be allowed along EDSA, including carolers and beggars. Reports said that local government units will also confiscate vendors’ goods if they refuse to cooperate.
Reports also say that LGUs will also clear mabuhay lanes or alternate routes of obstructions, and illegally parked vehicles found on these routes between 6am to 9pm from November 1 to January 2 will be impounded.
What do you think of this? Do you think this move will be effective?
