Uptown Bonifacio officially rang in the holiday season with the unveiling of its Christmas Tree, which showcases Filipino artistry and sustainability, at the Uptown Mall Atrium. Done in collaboration with renowned fashion designer Michael Leyva, the Uptown Mall Christmas Tree is a testament to how anything, even those you consider scrap, can be repurposed to create something beautiful.
Standing at 30 feet tall, the Uptown Mall Christmas Tree was crafted using excess fabrics, archival trimmings, and leftover materials from Leyva’s atelier, accumulated throughout his 13-year career. The tree was also designed to be predominantly white, with angel ornaments and a larger-than-life angel topper, to symbolize the Filipino’s purity.
“As designers, we have to think of something we can recycle or we can make something beautiful out of—things that we don’t use anymore,” shared Leyva. “Seeing the finished tree is genuinely uplifting, and it captures the message of Christmas—love and pure happiness.”
The launch of the holiday centerpiece, held on November 20, was led by Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, Megaworld President and CEO Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, First Vice President and Head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls Graham Coates, Cluster General Manager Camille Elviña, and Leyva.
“This collaboration is a celebration of Filipino artistry and the values we want to uplift this season,” said Coates. “Through Michael’s vision, we see how creativity can spark renewal and how thoughtful design can strengthen meaningful connections within our Uptown Bonifacio community. It reminds us that the holidays are at their best when they inspire us to create, to reflect, and to share.”
Guests are invited to experience Wrapped in Style throughout the season—exploring the couture-inspired Christmas tree and decorations. The celebration continues all season long with the Uptown Run Club’s indoor Mall-a-thon on December 6 and Door Dash Run in partnership with participating restaurants on December 11, elegant Christmas quartet performances on December 24 and 31, and a Santa Meet and Greet on December 23 and 25.
