I broke into tears halfway through this article while browsing through his music and singing along. It brings me back to my college days back in 2013, the rise of electronic dance music. While there are plenty of DJs releasing their tracks as it began to influence pop music 5 years ago, most of my favorites were songs by Avicii. I’ve always loved the genre for the enthusiastic and positive vibe it gives to lyrics that simply express exactly how I deeply felt.

Avicii was one of the top EDM artists. His recovery from an appendix and gallbladder operation in 2014 was good news for everyone, yet in 2016 he continued to struggle with health issues causing him to retire from touring. Today, the internet broke for news of his passing at age 28. His music which had always brought nostalgia to me now means so much more. Here’s a list of some of my favorites to commemorate him…
