This R2-D2 conservatory might be the geekiest thing in the world

Hubert Zitt, a professor at the Zweibrรผcken University of Applied Sciences, may be bestย known for the Star Trek and Star Wars lectures he regularly conducts. That, or theย observatory he painted in the likeness of everyoneโ€™s favorite droid: R2-D2.ย

Dr. Zitt possesses a doctorate in the field of systems theory of electrotechnology. He alsoย instructs in that same field. In his spare time, heโ€™s also managed to gain worldwide fameย as a Global Top Speaker for his Star Trek lectures โ€” which is a little ironic given the R2-D2 observatory.

Despite his more public connection to Star Trek (he even taught a class called โ€˜โ€™Theย Physics of Star Trekโ€™ in Texas), his love for Star Wars is undeniable. He spent the span ofย the summer in 2018 repainting the observatory. Zitt had the help of his father-in-law, asย well as some students. Now, this testament to the beloved sci-fi work stands forever (orย for now) at the Zweibrรผcken University of Applied Sciences in Germany.
