This R2-D2 conservatory might be the geekiest thing in the world

Hubert Zitt, a professor at the Zweibrücken University of Applied Sciences, may be best known for the Star Trek and Star Wars lectures he regularly conducts. That, or the observatory he painted in the likeness of everyone’s favorite droid: R2-D2.

Dr. Zitt possesses a doctorate in the field of systems theory of electrotechnology. He also instructs in that same field. In his spare time, he’s also managed to gain worldwide fame as a Global Top Speaker for his Star Trek lectures — which is a little ironic given the R2-D2 observatory.

Despite his more public connection to Star Trek (he even taught a class called ‘’The Physics of Star Trek’ in Texas), his love for Star Wars is undeniable. He spent the span of the summer in 2018 repainting the observatory. Zitt had the help of his father-in-law, as well as some students. Now, this testament to the beloved sci-fi work stands forever (or for now) at the Zweibrücken University of Applied Sciences in Germany.
