A lot of students are in need of financial help these days, especially considering that a lot of learning is now remote and online. Many students don’t have the means for online learning, nor the equipment. Which is what prompted Diane Reyes, founder of Ayuda Pang Eskwela to put together a Facebook group where students and parents of students who are minors can post about what they need and how much and donors can help them out.
“Last July 31 late night, I was browsing through Twitter to get out of all the negativities I was seeing on FB. Then I saw the comments in one influencer’s tweet where students were asking for financial support so they can buy a laptop #PisoParaSaLaptop. I thought to myself, “Why are the students here? Wala bang platform na maayos for them?
I slept on it and a few hours later, I just created the private group, Ayuda Pang Eskwela. And after that, tuloy tuloy na!” She says about the group.”
The group started just a few days ago, August 1 to be exact, and within the first 9 days, over 200 students have received monetary support estimated to about PHP 1,000,000.
I firmly believe that these little acts of kindness will contribute to something bigger. On top of the donations, the group also hopes to continuously guide the youth through a variety of programs like #AyudaKnow to provide tips and knowledge to our members, and hopefully if we sustain this, #AyudaTalks to provide lessons on topics like financial literacy.
