The World’s Oldest person commemorated her 117th birthday after ringing in the new year!

Born on January 2, 1902, Kane Tanaka, an elderly woman living in Fukuoka Japan, celebrated with friends and staff at a nursing home as reported by local broadcaster TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting Co.
She was given a birthday cake, balloons, and flowers, and was sung to by everyone at the nursing home.

She was confirmed to be the oldest living person last year by the Guinness World Records. She married her husband in 1922 and had five children with him.
She has not yet beaten the record for the world’s oldest person in history, however, as it belongs to a French woman, Jeanne Louise Calment, who lived to 122 years.
