The Philippines will soon have its remake of Call My Agent! and it will star Angel Locsin and Edu Manzano.
It will be divided into eight parts and directed by Erik Matti.
The adaptation is based on a French series that began in 2015. It was created by Fanny Herrero and stars Camille Cottin, Thibault de Montalembert, Gregory Montel, Liliane Rovère, and Fanny Sidney.
Four seasons have been released, and there are plans for a TV film and a fifth season.
The show is described as: “At a Paris talent firm, agents scramble to keep their star clients happy and their business afloat.”
Locsin will be playing Andréa Martel, which was originally portrayed by Cottin. Meanwhile, Manzano will play Mathias Barneville, who was brought to life by de Montalembert.
On Facebook, Matti shared his thoughts about the remake. He began, “When @dondonmonteverde and I were asked what we wanted to do for HBO, we, almost immediately at the same time, thought of remaking this show. We have ever since wanted to do a film or series about the movie industry we grew old in. The Mother Lily should have been that if the pandemic did not stop us from doing such a huge undertaking.”
He added, “Showbiz stories for movies or tv are usually not bought by our local producers because they think no one wants to watch stories about what goes on behind-the-scenes of our industry. But it is so full of interesting and scandalous stories with such a diverse and colorful group of interesting people that would be great characters to immortalize in a show like this.”
The director ended his message, saying, “Finally, we can do our tribute to a world where what goes on behind the glamour is as much or even more interesting than what we see in the movies.”
He also said that it will be a “really really fun show to do.”
The adaptation is set to begin production this April or May.
