There are talks on how the OG Spider-Man Tobey Maguire could reprise his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise in the upcoming Marvel film Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

Captain America: Civil War was shown in 2016 and was the first time Tom Holland was introduced to us as Spider-Man and we couldn’t get enough of him ever since. But let’s also share our gratitude to the former Spideys like Tobey Maguire who was the Spider-Man we never knew we needed from 2002-2007. Andrew Garfield also gave an enjoyable yet quick adventure as he portrayed the hero from 2012-2014.

Holland actually brought up the Spider-Verse during the promo tour of Far From Home, watch the video below:

During the interview, Tom told Jake Hamilton that Maguire and Garfield could return for a live-action Spider-Verse. The actor continues to share his wishes on wanting the three generations of Peter Parker all coming together.

“Of course I would love to make a movie with those guys, it would be so cool! And it’s something that the fans really want,” Holland shared. “So whether Marvel and Sony decided to do that, it’s up to them. It’s not up to me, I can’t walk in like ‘Kevin [Feige], this is what we’re doing on the next one.’ But it would be really awesome.”

A fan theory centered around Spider-Man 2 when J. Jonah Jameson was conceptualizing the name for the rising villain soon to be named Otto Octavius, initially one of the names suggested was ‘Dr. Strange.’ Fans have been convinced that it had a connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Two things to consider that this might not push through: one, the fact that the Spider-Man 2 film was Sony’s property with no connection to the MCU. And two, the MCU did not exist in 2004. If ever there was a connection to the given name by Jameson, it would probably have been unintentional.

But! The fan-based theory of Doctor Strange 2’s multiverse including the other Spideys might have a chance of becoming a reality due to J.K. Simmons suggestive cameo in the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home when Jameson showed up on the big screen… in another big screen.

It’s a never-ending debate: Tobey, Andrew, or Tom: Who Really is the BEST Spider-Man? And I guess we’ll (probably) know soon if ever this theory does come to the big screen!

‘Doctor Strange 2’ Is Going To Be Marvel’s First Horror Film and will hit theaters on May 2021.
