One of the most magical shows of the ’90s was Sabrina the Teenage Witch,ย which followed the adventures of Sabrina Spellman, a teenager who balances her secret life as a witch with school, homework, and her love life. It starred Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina and ran for seven seasons from 1996 to 2003.
The show ended 15 years ago but the cast recently reunited for a special by Entertainment Weekly.
Those in attendance were Hart, Caroline Rhea (Hilda), Beth Broderick (Zelda), Nick Backay (Salem), Nate Richert (Harvey), Alimi Ballard (Quizmaster), David Lascher (Josh), Soleil Moon Frye (Roxie) and Elisa Donovan (Morgan). Sadly, Jenna Leigh Green (Libby) and Lindsay Sloane (Valerie) couldn’t make it.
In the reunion, the cast shared insights and stories during their time. Hart said,ย โWhen fans come to us and say, โWe grew up with you,โ that is the biggest compliment we could ever receive for working hard all those yearsโฆ It just makes us feel good that so many people enjoyed it and enjoyed our work and what more can you ask for?โ
Fans of the show will be pleased to hear that the show will get a reboot, which will be developed by CW (also the same studio that developedย Riverdale) and will be based on โThe Chilling Adventures of Sabrinaโ story arc. Likeย Riverdale, it will be a darker spin on the beloved comic strip.
According to Hart, โI think our show was about magic and family, and I think the new one โ it sounds like, I have no idea โ but the new one is going to be more about witchcraft, dark stuff.
I think it sounds moreย Buffy the Vampire Slayerย than it doesย Sabrina, so I think it will appeal to a different kind of audience and be a totally different show.โ
Thereโs no word yet on the cast and the release date, but the two seasons will have 10 episodes each.
Could it be possible there will be a crossover episode betweenย Riverdaleย andย Sabrina?
