“As soon as we were informed of issues involving Ju Haknyeon’s private life, our company immediately suspended his activities and took time to thoroughly verify the facts,” the agency said in an English translation published by Soompi. “As a result, we have come to recognize the seriousness of this issue and have clearly determined that it is no longer possible for us to maintain the trust in him as an artist. After sufficient discussions with the members of THE BOYZ, we have made the final decision for Ju Haknyeon to depart the team and to terminate his exclusive contract.”
“We would like to inform you that, as of today, Ju Haknyeon will cease all activities as a member of THE BOYZ.”
Following the 26-year-old K-pop idol’s departure from the group, the agency apologized for causing concern among fans and asked for their utmost understanding.
“We sincerely apologize for causing concern to the fans, and we will do our best to repay your support with better news and activities in the future,” the statement concluded.
Ju Haknyeon was embroiled in controversy after being spotted meeting with a former Japanese AV actress.
With this controversy, the agency announced on June 16 that he would be “temporarily suspending” his group activities due to personal reasons.
Following his departure, THE BOYZ will continue their group activities as a 10-member boy group.
