Philippines continues to face challenges in defeating non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory disease. Outbreaks on communicable diseases like dengue and measles further compromise our health. This is why developing new and more specific methods for diagnosis and treatment should be a priority.
The St. Luke’s Molecular Medicine Society and UP Filipino Physician-Scientist Association, the two prime movers of Molecular Medicine in the country, collaborated in organizing an international scientific conference called, Forward Thinkers: Shaping Healthcare through Molecular Medicine Research on September 28 to 29, 2019 at the Angelo King Auditorium, St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine.
Both organizations share the same advocacy of improving the Philippine healthcare system by creating a more collaborative ecosystem between our doctors and scientists.
This conference does not only aim to provide new information on the PH health status and scientific discoveries in selected diseases but also on creating resolutions regarding the challenges we face in integrating basic science research in healthcare.
