Harvard study predicts how long we have to practice social distancing

We may still have to practice social distancing for a longer time. Harvard researchers published a study projecting until when we may still need to implement social distancing.

According to the researchers, social distancing should still be practiced until 2022. The study assumed that COVID-19 will likely become seasonal, just like other coronaviruses. With this, the study says that a one-time social distancing measure will not be efficient.

However, the study also states that too much social distancing may be a bad thing. As such, in the absence of other treatments, we may have to practice intermittent social distancing instead to increase the care capacity of hospitals.

And even though much still remains unknown about the virus, the researchers say that the virus is here to stay. In this case, it is highly unlikely that immunity will be strong enough and last long enough that the virus will die out after the first wave.
