Sen. Angara endorses bill that will establish a Philippine eHealth system for telemedicine

With COVID-19 showing the importance of access to healthcare, Sen. Sonny Angara endorses a bill that will create and establish a Philippine eHealth system for telemedicine.

In a press release last Wednesday, the senator said, “technology and innovation is key to bridging the gap between patients and health care professionals.” Having previously recovered from COVID-19, Sen. Angara also said that artificial intelligence could also play a significant role in facilitating the delivery of health services to the people.

The press release also said that, “the proposed bill recognizes eHealth as ‘equal with other healthcare delivery methods’ and seeks to provide the necessary services to all Filipinos, especially in medically unserved and underserved geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.'”

When passed, the DOH-endorsed bill will create a regulatory and legal framework for a national eHealth system. There would also be development and implementation of various eHealth services and applications in the Philippines.
