Misibis Bay Resort and Casino: A Luxurious Way to Experience Bicol

The mere thought of visiting a resort that is marketed as a luxurious island playground can fill one with so much excitement. This was exactly what I felt when I have been tagged along to join a group visiting Misibis Bay Resort and Casino. I was not initially part of the travelling party, but due to an unanticipated cancellation of one of the members of the group, I found myself booking a last minute plane ticket to Legazpi.

Less than an hour flight from Manila and 45-minute land trip from Legazpi Airport, you can reach Misibis Bay. Once you set foot on the resort, you will be greeted by enthusiastic Ibalong dancers in native costumes. With a lei, refreshing buko juice, cold towel, and fish crackers; the check-in went smoothly and fast. Judging from the hospitality, I knew that the experience was going to be a memorable one from that point on.

For this trip, I was with 8 other people. I had the booking made during the Travel Tour Expo last February. We booked 4 Garden View rooms at 15,999 per head. Based on the current tariff, regular rates for such a room is almost 24,000 per night for 2 people. The rate that we had was a lot cheaper since it comes with 3-day, 2-night accommodation, full-board meals, round-trip airport transfers, complimentary city tour, and use of various facilities all over the resort.

The room was not that big, but exuded extravagance in many ways. One thing that I liked the most about it is that it came with roll-up window blinds, which allowed us to see the lush landscape surrounding the resort.

There are various pools scattered all over the resort, but the highlight would definitely be their infinity pool, which also has its own bar. They also have a kiddie pool and a sprawling lagoon pool. If you are staying in one of the villas, you will even have pool access right outside your door. What I liked most about our room is that it had its own swimming pool. While it was smaller than the other pools, it offered exclusivity to those staying in the Garden View rooms.

If you do not feel like taking a dip in the pool, the beach is your ideal escape. It is perfect for sunbathing. I didn’t see anyone swimming, though.
