Filipinos know that December marks the best part of the year — no, not Christmas, but the conclusion of the UAAP basketball championship. Whether you’ve got a school in the finals or not, it’s an event you’ll be glued to until it finishes.
This year is no different, especially with the plot twist of an ADMU-UP finals. As if the game wasn’t exciting enough to watch, the online back and forth had us grabbing our popcorn.
All was chill a few days before the game, with people joking about the #BattleofKatipunan and anime parallels:
as an atenean, having an ADMU vs UP finals instead of an ADMU vs DLSU finals is like watching the protagonist go up against his best friend in the final fight instead of fighting his usual arch enemy
aka way cooler and positive vibes all around

the amount of anime comparisons being made about today's UP-ADMU game really shows how many nerds r watching basketball for the first time

Then the game brought on some witty barbs on the class divide:

Of course, as students, there had to be a few exchanges on rankings and group works:
I'm glad UP joined Ateneo now in the finals, hopefully they join us next year in the world rankings charot pic.twitter.com/WY4QMwd8iA

Alright, this was technically for the previous UP-Adamson game but it’s still funny (and it still applies):

Even though DLSU missed out on the finals this year, they had to find a way to hold on to their meme queen crowns:

The most important thing to remember is: it’s not even close to over. Who will you be cheering for on Wednesday?
