The Internet Has A Crazy Theory About Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding’s New Christmas Romcom

The trailer for Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding’s new holiday-themed Romantic Comedy only just came out the other day but the internet is already going wild thinking they’ve figured out a crazy plot twist. Last Christmas’ trailer follows Kate (Emilia Clarke) who works as a despondent Christmas Elf in a shop when she suddenly meets Tom (Henry Golding). Tom, of course, is there to bring back the ~true meaning of Christmas~ into her life.

(Emilia Clarke opens up about suffering 2 aneurysms while filming Game of Thrones)

It all seems pretty standard for a holiday flick until Kate’s character opens up about once getting quite sick and nearly dying. Suddenly, the game is changed as that tidbit is used to fuel everyone’s newest favorite theory. People now think that the movie is actually about a ghost (Tom) come back to check on and guide a lost soul (Kate). But why her? Well, evidence points to Kate being a recipient of a heart transplant with the donor obviously being Tom himself.

(Did You Know Emilia Clarke Was Supposed to Be Part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?)

Further proof that Tom isn’t actually alive is the fact that he only ever interacts with Kate in the trailer. In fact, Kate even points out how Tom seems to appear out of nowhere randomly. Lastly, we have the title. We all know the famous end to the classic tune: “Last Christmas…I gave you my heart.”

Last Christmas is directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) and written by multi-Oscar-winner Emma Thompson. It will be out in November.
