A Visionary Pop-Up Selfie Camera for Maximum Viewing Experience
The Huawei Y9 comes with a triple rear camera set up that pushes the boundaries of entry level phones, but the highlights of its camera lie in the front camera with a “pop-up” configuration. Huawei Y9 Prime 2019’s new auto pop-up camera is automatically activated when the user switches to the front camera. The pop-up camera is also designed with an intelligent protection mechanism that detects free falls and retract the lens. When the front camera is activated, it would automatically emerge and hover over the screen, like a submarine periscope appearing from under the surface. This elegant futuristic design allows the phone to realize a bezel-less and notch-less display, providing a higher screen-to-body ratio.
The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019’s front 16MP front camera, is also supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI). The camera can identify blue skies, greenery, indoor scenes, and landscapes which automatically adjust its parameters to optimize the natural lighting conditions. A total of eight (8) scenarios are supported by the AI feature. The recently upgraded AI backlight imaging technology retains details with stunning clarity and natural colors to captivating selfies regardless of the lighting.
A Bezel-Free Experience
Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 represents a break from the conventional smartphone design. It abandons any form of notch, slider or a hole. The screen is simply a smooth and unobstructed glass surface, taking up 91% of the front surface. The receiver earpiece has been moved to the top of the central frame, and the ambient light sensor is located at the bottom of the screen.
Huawei Y9 Prime 2019’s full-screen display measures at 19.5:9 in aspect ratio. Y9 Prime 2019’s 6.59-inch LCD screen displays 16.7 million color gradients and boasts a wide color gamut of 85%. The screen also filters harmful blue light emissions, and intelligently adjusts the color temperature and brightness, to protect against eye strain. Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 passed TÜV Rheinland’s strict standards for low blue light and photo biological safety.
AI-Enhanced Photography with Triple Rear Cameras
The HUAWEI Y9 Prime 2019 is equipped with a 16MP + 8MP + 2MP triple rear camera system. The 16MP main camera and 8MP secondary camera utilize a 6P (six-lens plastic array) design, which helps capture crystal-clear images with a sterling level of the detail and powerful light intake, resulting in improved resolution and contrasts.
The F/1.8 aperture on the 16MP camera takes in 50% more light than the F/2.2 aperture is more commonly seen, with low noise, and fast focusing. Meanwhile, the 8MP sensor offers one of the most impressive feats little found among the budget phones, an ultra-wide-angle camera that allows for 120° wide-angle shots of vast landscapes or breathtaking skylines.
On the other hand, the 2MP sensor coordinates with the primary camera to generate the depth of field in the photo, enabling SLR-quality images on a palm-sized budget handset. Tools such as Night mode, and 480 FPS super slow-motion videos, bring a range of professional features within reach.

The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 also runs the minimalistic and user-friendly EMUI 9, with 10% fewer Settings items and 12.9% higher performance. EMUI 9.0 utilizes the upgraded version 2.0 Version of F2FS to provide memory management that works seamlessly with Huawei’s self-developed background app monitoring, optimizing power efficiency and phone security.

The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 retails at PHP 12,990 and comes with three colors: Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue and Emerald Green and will be available at Huawei Experience Stores and partner retailers nationwide. Pre-order starts on July 5 – July 12 and consumers who pre-order will get a premium Bluetooth speaker worth PHP 1,790.
