The first Philippine microsatellite, Diwata-1, has come back home to earth after its four-year journey in outer space. After its launch in 2016, it has traveled over 938million kilometers around the Earth and has captured more than 17,000 images of the Earth.

Last April 6, The Stamina 4 Space Program of the University of the Philippines posted on Facebook that as of 6 April 2020 at 04:49 a.m. Philippine Standard Time (PST), Diwata-1 was at an altitude of approximately 114km based on telemetry data received from the satellite.
Its decommission has been monitored since March 23 and many teams have closely monitored its status as it returned to earth. Stamina4Space says that “This, therefore, marks the official end of the mission lifetime of Diwata-1.”
