Some LRT-2 Operations Will Remain Suspended for the Next 9 Months

After a train’s power transformer recently caused a fire on the LRT-2 track, the LRTA (The Light Rail Transit Authority) has announced that the LRT-2 stations Santolan, Katipunan, and Anonas will remain suspended for the next nine months at the very least.

“It would take us, based on the assessment of our technical personnel, a minimum of 9 months to return the full line operations in Line 2,” says LRTA spokesperson Laywer Hernando Cabrera. Operations at the LRT-2 stations from Cubao to Recto might be back to normal by next week, though.

This suspension is sure to cause a lot of stress, particularly for students of major universities around the Katipunan Station, such as Ateneo de Manila, UP Diliman, and Miriam College.
