Each of us has different purposes in life, like becoming a pilot, opening a cafe, volunteering to charities, writing plays, etc. Yet, all of those differences have similarities as well. According to Lindsay Peterson, “Purpose: how you use your experiences, talents, and passions to better the lives of those around you.” Beyond our life purposes, there is always a common denominator, and that is to help improve lives.
Rhian Ramos is a woman of substance. She is an actress, a commercial model, a singer, a race car driver, and so many more. She is notable and all, but as impossible as this may sound – she is way more than that.
In 2019, LoveHopeFaith Group was invited to guest in a GMA’s ‘Bawal ang Pasaway’ to promote its advocacy to the public. In December 2019, the ‘Bawal and Pasaway’ team along with Rhian Ramos had a Mini Christmas Gathering with LoveHopeFaith Group’s beneficiaries who have cancer. Rhian related why she wanted to support the beneficiaries, “Alam ko yung feeling na kapag unang rinig mo na either may cancer ka or may cancer ang isang importanteng tao sa buhay mo, yung pinakaunang feeling na pumapasok para agad walang hope,”. The event included games, exchange gifts, lunch, and an inspirational speech from LHFG’s Cancer-free beneficiary, Zedrick. Everyone had a wonderful time and everyone loved Rhian – the LHFG team, beneficiaries, and the beneficiaries’ parents.
Having a personality like Rhian Ramos in one of LoveHopeFaith Group’s events is something big. Yet with her, there’s always something surprisingly bigger. It turns out that giving back is not new for her. Every year during her birth month in October, she does charity programs as a special gift to herself, as her way of showing her gratitude to God’s goodness and faithfulness to her. She said “God talaga is super good to me. Parang lagi Niya akong bine-bless every year pagka birthday ko, ginagawa Niyang klaro na, ‘O, may gift ako sa iyo,’ parang ganun.”
Without a doubt, Rhian’s career as a celebrity is something to be remembered, but she is also a Lifesaver. Her off-screen initiatives and her willingness to reach out to others just prove that life’s purpose goes way beyond becoming successful in our fields. It’s about reaching out and allowing others to achieve their purposes as well. Take advantage of the platform you’re on to help make a change by doing God’s work.
We don’t have to be a prominent celebrity like Rhian Ramos to start doing something. No matter how big or small, the change could be drastic. You just have to start.
