The Architectural Students’ Association of the Philippines – University of the Philippines Chapter (ASAPHIL-UP) is a duly recognized academic student organization founded in 1986 in the University of the Philippines Diliman. Currently the largest organization in the College of Architecture, ASAPHIL-UP is home to students from the fields of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Interior Design.
This year, ASAPHIL-UP is holding one of its flagship events, Design Blitz 2021: disPLAY.Â
Design Blitz is an online, fast-paced, interdisciplinary design competition. It occurs every four to five years, spanning an average of two months, inviting a variety of different college students from different design courses.
The event has partnered with CANVAS.PH with the goal to design an installation for play in relation to their goal of promoting children’s literacy, exploring national identity, and broadening public awareness for Philippine art, culture, and environment. This event is in accordance with one of the organization’s main thrusts; Architectural Education.
The design problem of creating an interactive installation for children aims to spark the reimagination and rethinking of the very concept of what ‘Play’ is.Â
Design Blitz 2021: disPLAY will be held online through various social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The competition was launched on March 22, 2021, and will end on May 22, 2021 through a culminating online event.
