READ: The Philippines Now Has 7,641 Islands!

It’s definitely more fun in the Philippines – and now, there are more islands to have fun in!

In a CNN interview with Environment Secretary Ramon Paje, it is revealed that there are more than 7,107 islands in the country. A special project conducted by the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) dubbed the Philippine Islands Measurements Project put the number at  7,641. Paje claims that the reason behind the discovery of the new islands could likely be because of old technology which was unable to detect the land masses, changing land form, and the improved detection of islands through the use of high-resolution data.

Yep, that’s 534 islands more, not even taking into account high tide or low tide!
