Are you an entrepreneur and looking for opportunities for your business? This might be the chance to launch your business into greater heights. Global energy leader company Shell has launched their enterprise development program here in the Philippines and is now in the search for the next batch of Filipino enterprises to mentor and grant financial support for!
Sounds too good to be true? We know it sounds pretty amazing, but this has actually been going on now since late last year. This program was first launched in the Philippines in 2020 and, currently, there are already nine Filipino start-ups and enterprises under their wing. And they are looking to adopt more. This advocacy is called the Shell LiveWIRE, the flagship enterprise development program of Shell. Its core mission is to help strengthen local economies like the Philippines by helping create meaningful employment by promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.
So What Exactly is Shell LiveWIRE?
The purpose of Shell LiveWIRE is simple — to support local communities by promoting businesses, growing them, and creating job opportunities. Every year, Shell supports thousands of entrepreneurs and businesses in 15 markets around the world by giving them access to knowledge, skills, networks, and resources that can help them make their business flourish.
The first Shell LiveWIRE program was launched in 1982 in Scotland as a response to the nation’s growing youth unemployment rate. Since then, Shell LiveWIRE has continued to expand and reach other areas facing similar challenges, offering opportunities for startups. In 2018 alone, Shell LiveWIRE trained 2,686 youth entrepreneurs, supported 1,384 businesses, and created 1,374 jobs. From these businesses, 43 local enterprises have been integrated into Shell’s supply chain.
How? What Shell LiveWIRE’s Acceleration Program does is act as a mentor for startups and enterprises, providing support for their businesses and product development. Not only that — Shell LiveWIRE provides financial support for the team, as well. Best of all, startups and enterprises under the Shell LiveWIRE program can potentially win funding for their company and even gain work through a partnership and get integrated into the Shell Philippines ecosystem.
