Smokers, you might want to read this.
President Duterte is scheduled to sign an EO or Executive Order on the nationwide smoking ban today, Tuesday, March 7, Manila Bulletin reported.
As mentioned by Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol, Duterte had expressed intention to sign the said EO during the 13th Cabinet meeting Monday afternoon.
Furthermore, the article states the first draft of the Executive Order for the nationwide smoking ban was submitted by the Department of Health (DOH). The EO was patterned by the one being STRICTLY implemented in Davao City last October 2016.
Agriculture Secretary also mentioned that Duterte informed the Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Paulyn Ubial that will sign the draft EO “as is.”
If implemented, smoking in public areas such as airports, malls, streets, and alike will be strictly prohibited. As we all know, Duterte is firm in terms of implementing the smoking ban in Davao, which he plans to do the same in the whole country.
I, personally, think it’s about time to implement this rule. And hopefully, the citizens, especially, the smokers will abide by it and will be more sensitive to the people around them.
