Philippines Records Highest Single-Day Increase in COVID-19 Recoveries

This Thursday, May 7, the Philippines recorded its highest single-day increase in the number of COVID-19 recoveries. The Department of Health announced 112 new recoveries, bringing the total count of recoveries up to 1,618.

The DOH also announced 339 new cases and an additional 27 fatalities. This brings the total tally to 10,343 cases and 685 deaths.

According to the DOH, recovery from the virus takes an average of 2 weeks for patients with mild symptoms. Recovery of severe to critical cases may take up to six weeks.

The DOH aims to conduct 30,000 COVID-19 tests per day by the end of May.
