Philippine Biology Olympiad

When In Manila Poster2

The Philippine Biology Olympiad (PBO) is the country’s premier biology competition for students of grades 7 to 12 and serves as the venue for selection of the country’s representatives to the annual International Biology Olympiad (IBO). The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) has endorsed the Department of Biology of the Ateneo de Manila University and the Ateneo Biological Organization – eXplore eXperience eXcel (BOx) as the official organizers of the PBO.

Known as BioCamp for the last six years, PBO event has enabled students to participate in such activities as seminars, forums, laboratory workshops, a quiz bee, and an “amazing race.” All of these activities aim to enhance the students’ interest, passion, and skills in the biological sciences, increase awareness on issues in biology, particularly biodiversity, and promote camaraderie among young biologists in the making. Starting this year, the four best performing participants will be declared the official representatives of the Philippines to the IBO.
