New ‘Barangay Coding’ Scheme to Begin in This City Next Week

To help further curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Pasig City mayor Vico Sotto will be implementing a new “barangay coding” scheme in the city starting next week.

The local government unit made the announcement on its Facebook page, revealing that each barangay will only be allowed to leave their homes to do their grocery and medicine runs two times a week on specific days. They hope that these stricter measures will lessen the number of people going outdoors and further flatten the curve in the city.

Each barangay was grouped together based on their population. A dry run will begin on Thursday, April 30, and strict implementation will commence on Monday, May 4.

According to Mayor Vico, each household will receive new permits in place of the issued quarantine passes to be distributed before Monday by the Philippine National Police.
