Pasig City Begins Rapid Testing of COVID-19 Frontliners

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced on Facebook that rapid testing to detect COVID-19 in frontliners has officially commenced.

He shared that as of 1:30 pm, 309 people had already been tested. The majority of that number is made up of healthcare workers.

Of the 309 tested for COVID-19, 303 had negative results while 6 were positive. Those with positive results will undergo a confirmatory test.

Mayor Vico clarified in the comments that this rapid testing differs from Pasig City’s PCR-based testing of suspected or probable cases. He further said the priority being given is first to suspected and probable cases, then to health workers and other frontliners at high risk, third are close contacts, and last are those at higher risk.

This is all part of Mayor Vico’s plan to flatten the curve by implementing a mass testing program in Pasig. Only a few days ago, Pasig rolled out their ‘active’ testing booths across the city in order to speed up the testing of individuals.
