“Mission: Impossible” Collabs With “Spy X Family”: The Crossover We Never Knew We Needed

Ethan Hunt and the Impossible Mission Force (IMF) are not the only ones pulling mindblowing stunts, with an apparent partnership of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise with the hit anime series “SPY X FAMILY”! This out-of-the-box marketing stunt to promote the 2023 “Mission Impossible” movie is just one of the reasons you have got to love Japan.

Last week, the official Twitter account of the popular spy-themed anime dropped its version of the “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” poster. The Forger family and more “SPY X FAMILY” characters star in this satire M:I 7 poster namely: Loid as Ethan Hunt (played by Tom Cruise), Yor as Grace (played by Hayley Atwell), Anya as Ilsa Faust (played by Rebecca Ferguson), Bond as Gabriel (played by Esai Morales), Nightfall as Paris (played by Pom Klementieff), Yuri Briar as Benji Dunn (played by Simon Pegg), Sylvia Sherwood as The White Widow (played by Vanessa Kirby) and Franky Franklin as Luther Stickell (played by Ving Rhames).

Paramount Pictures Japan also released a featurette that introduces the film franchise to Anya! In the promotional video, she sees the “Mission: Impossible” sequel’s trailer on TV and gets intrigued by Ethan Hunt. Known for her admiration of her spy father and Bondman–the protagonist in her favorite show “Spy Wars,” the mind reader learns about the plot through Loid’s thoughts.

As if these were not enough, “SPY X FAMILY” creator Tatsuya Endo sketched Anya Forger as Ethan Hunt recreating Tom Cruise’s iconic vault scene in the 1996 film!

For those who haven’t seen “SPY X FAMILY,” the Japanese manga series released its successful anime adaptation last year. A second season is reportedly in the works with its debut set in October, as well as a movie spin-off titled “SPY x FAMILY CODE: White” which is expected to hit cinemas in December.

Meanwhile, “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” is now showing.
