The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved a P1 hike on minimum jeepney fare. This price increase is approved fro jeepneys in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Southern Tagalog.
In a separate petition, LTRFB also approved to revert the taxi base fare back to P40 in Metro Manila, Cebu, and Panay.
Effectivity of these fare hikes will be “the latest on Thursday” according to Aileen Lizada, LTFRB board member.
The approval came in consideration of the rising diesel prices and cost of goods.
The minimum jeepney fare will go from the P7 to P8. However, LTRFB said that the fare for succeeding kilometers will remain at P1.50 per kilometer.
