‘Drink Your Water B!’: Here’s What To Expect For Mimiyuuuh’s Future in Music

Our girl Mimiyuuuh has successfully proved to us time and time again that she is a force to be reckoned with. Not only can she effortlessly make us laugh, create her own fashion pieces, and touch lives with her kindness and genuineness, but she has also marked her place in the local music circuit through the debut of her first-ever single “DYWB (Drink Your Water B*tch).”

And if you thought that it was going to be a one-off thing, you’re mistaken; as soon as it was announced that Mimiyuuuh signed with OC Records, it became clear that she is serious about her singing career and has tons planned for all her fans.

OC Records founder Kean Cipriano couldn’t help but express his admiration for Mimiyuuh’s capability of knowing what she truly wants for her song. According to him, she didn’t just accept what was given to her; rather, she knew her vision, knew her sound, and knew how she wanted to sing her song.

This is exactly how “DYWB” eventually became an underground rap track from what it was originally going to be: a pop song.

‘Yung ginawa kong demo [was] very pop, very mainstream approach,” said Kean to the press as he opened up about his experience collaborating with Mimiyuuuh for her first single.

“Oh my god, binaril [ni Mimi]!” Chynna Ortaleza butted in, laughing.

Sabi niya, ‘Sir Kean, hindi ito ‘yung gusto kong mangyari!’” Kean continued.

“Actually nakakatuwa nga kasi Mimi is really genuine,” added Chynna. “So noong sinasabi na nga niya sakin kung anong gusto niyang maging first single, natuwa ako kasi sinasabi niya na ‘I want to honor my roots.’ Kung anong pinapakinggan ko noong bata pa ako, gusto kong gumawa ng track na parang gan’on. So that’s how we came up with ‘Drink Your Water B*tch.’”

But Kean clarified that the hip-hop sound of “DYWB” won’t always be Mimiyuuuh’s genre of music forever, saying that it’s always going to be up to her to decide what she wants. And that’s what Mimiyuuuh is grateful for—that OC Records doesn’t stifle her creativity and will always help her through whatever she decides to pursue.

For now, though, Mimiyuuuh is definitely happy with her hip-hop and R&B music and hopes to one day collaborate with some of her idols, like Gloc-9 and Shanti Dope.

Only time will tell what Mimiyuuuh has in store for all of us but we can rest assured that she will always put out quality work and give her 100%.

“I really don’t underestimate myself, feeling ko kaya ko lahat. Dapat gan’on ang mindset ng kabataan ngayon, dapat kaya mo lahat,” she said. “Never ever underestimate yourself.”
