Millie Bobby Brown couldn’t help but break down in tears as she recounted an uncomfortable experience she had with a fan while out in public Christmas shopping with her mom.
On her Instagram stories, the 16-year-old actress posted a black-and-white video wherein she talked about how a fan wouldn’t stop filming her even after she told them not to.
“I said, ‘Um, no.’ But why would anyone want to be taken a video of? Of me? It’s not like of the both of us,'” she said. “I don’t need to justify it to anyone. If I don’t want to be taken a video of, I don’t have to be.”
But the fan didn’t respect her wishes and took a video of her anyway, sparking a heated discussion between them.
“I was paying and she walked past me and began to video me again.
And I said, ‘I’m a human being. Like, what more can I ask from you?’ She said: ‘So I can’t take a video of a human being?’ And I said: ‘No, not when I said no,'” Millie recalled, her voice breaking as she began to cry. “It just makes me upset when people try to push the boundary, and I just wish people were more respectful.
”
“I’m still trying to navigate this all and it’s still overwhelming,” she added. “Where are my rights to say no?”
She ended the video by urging her fans and followers to be more considerate to others and to refrain from doing things without consent.
“You have to show more respect for others, no matter who they are, what they do. Show some respect, human being to human being,” she pleaded. “It’s just manners.”
Millie also recently deleted her TikTok account, though it’s unclear if this encounter is the reason behind her doing so.
