The “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” star opened up about her battle with cancer, from how it affected her work to her recovery.

After work, uuwi na ko talaga, matutulog ako. I don’t really lose weight, I get tired quickly. After work, I immediately go home and sleep. Then I wake up during midnight because I feel like I can’t breathe, I feel like I’m being strangled],” she said.

Ocampo revealed that she didn’t know she had thyroid cancer until after her surgery, “Alam na ng doctor at manager ko na cancer siya pero di pa nila sinasabi sakin [My doctor and manager already knew it was cancer, but they haven’t told me yet].”

Nalaman kong cancer siya nung after ng operation [I only found out it was cancer after the operation].”

She shared that she had oral radiation, then proudly stressed that she’s now cancer-free.

I’m cancer-free, but maintenance for life. Kasi every 2 months kailangan kong magpa-blood test para i-check kung i-adjust ba yung dosage [I have to take medicines for a lifetime and that’s where I depend on. Even my weight relies on my medicines, whether I’ll lose or gain weight. Every two months, I need to have a blood test to check if the dosage needs to be adjusted].”

Ocampo also admitted that she got depressed when her condition affected her physical appearance, emphasizing she weighed around 183 to 186 pounds.

Parang ayoko talaga lumabas. Napapagod na akong isipin kung ano sasabihin ng ibang tao [I don’t really want to go out. All my clothes don’t fit. So it was depressing until I reached the point that I’m tired of being depressed because of my weight. I’m tired of thinking about what other people will say],'” she shared.

Tapos one day, okay na ako. Then one day, I’m fine. I don’t care what people say about my weight because I know what is true].”

She went on by recalling how she overcame her cancer scare and fear of hospitals, “Yung mga times na yun na parang it’s so uncertain, hindi mo alam kung ano ang mga mangyayari, just trust Him. Trust Him, kapit ka lang sa Kanya, talk to Him [Those times when it’s so uncertain, you don’t know what will happen, just trust Him. Trust Him, hold on to Him, talk to Him.”
