Saan Saan, a chandler known for fragrances inspired by slower and more mindful living, has released a scent inspired by the Cinemalaya film Gitling.

The fragrance is called Kasisidmon sa Uma, a Hiligaynon phrase that translates to Dusk at the Farm.

It has notes of hinoki, smoked herbs, vetiver root, chamomile, and thyme.

Kasisidmon sa Uma is Saan Saan’s interpretation of the transient nature of dusk. According to the chandler, it “[lasts] only a few minutes at the end of the day, with a playful mix of colors, and temperatures dancing in the air, then all of a sudden… gone—leaving a sting of melancholy as light transitions to dark.”

The fragrance is available as a 3.3 oz. and 8.4 oz. candle, a reed diffuser, and a room mist.

Gitling follows Jamie, a translator who called off her engagement to her fiancé, and Makoto, a Japanese filmmaker who ran away to the Philippines to escape the wife who cheated on him. Their paths cross in Bacolod, where they work together to create Ilonggo subtitles for Makoto’s film. As they go through the filmmaking process, they find solace in a friendship they never knew they needed.

The film stars Gabby Padilla and Ken Yamamura, with direction and a screenplay by Jopy Arnaldo.

Gitling was one of the films of the Cinemalaya Film Festival in 2023, where it won Best Screenplay.

To celebrate the launch of the fragrance, Saan Saan held a screening of Gitling.

The launch included costumes and props from the film, including the script.
