Hey, bookworms and “Crazy Rich Asians” fans! Award-winning author of the beloved trilogy series, Kevin Kwan, is launching a new novel next month.
Titled “Sex and Vanity,” the book follows the story of a privileged young woman who begins to create a web of lies and deceit involving her family, her company, and her fiancé as she runs into a man from her past whom she can no longer deny having a strong attraction to.
“Writing SEX AND VANITY has been a dream come true – it’s an idea that has been brewing in my mind for almost a decade and I can’t wait to introduce my readers to all the new characters and their worlds,” the Singaporean author said in an official press release.
With the success of Kwan’s three books, “Crazy Rich Asians,” “China Rich Girlfriend,” and “Rich People Problems,” there’s no doubt that readers are going to be scrambling for a copy of this new novel! I mean, who isn’t a sucker for a good romantic drama?
The book is scheduled to drop on July 14, 2020.
Here’s the official synopsis:
On her very first morning on the jewel-like island of Capri, Lucie Tang Churchill sets eyes on George Zao and she instantly can’t stand him. She can’t stand it when he gallantly offers to trade hotel rooms with her so that she can have the view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, she can’t stand that he knows more about Casa Malaparte than she does, and she really can’t stand it when he kisses her in the darkness of the ancient ruins of a Roman villa and they are caught by her snobbish, disapproving cousin, Charlotte. “Your mother is Chinese so it’s no surprise you’d be attracted to someone like him,” Charlotte teases.
She adamantly denies having feelings for this Hong Kong surfer boy, but several years later, when George unexpectedly appears in East Hampton, where Lucie is weekending with her new fiancé, Lucie finds herself drawn to George again. Soon, Lucie is spinning a web of deceit that involves her family, her fiancé, the co-op board of her Fifth Avenue apartment building, and ultimately herself as she tries mightily to deny George entry into her world – and her heart.
