It’s not just Filipinos who find Liza Soberano pretty. It turns out that foreigners have fallen for the charms of this young actress, as she was ranked sixth of the most beautiful face of 2015 by the Independent Critics List.
Soberano beat international actresses such as Olivia Wilde, Kate Beckinsale, Selena Gomez, Natalie Portman, and Chloe Grace Moretz. The list was dominated by Americans (22), British (14), and South Koreans (11).
The top five went to Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani (5th), Emma Watson (4th), British model Jourdan Dunn (3rd), and Israeli actress of Wonder Woman Gal Gadot (2nd).
The number one spot went to South Korean Nana, who is part of the girl group After School. Nana also topped the list in 2014.
TC Candler, the creator of the list and the head of the Independent Critics List, said that the list is not a popularity contest, and that it helps form opinion instead of reflecting it.
According to Candler:
This list searches far and wide, listening to the millions of suggestions submitted every year, and tries to put together a list representative of the modern ideal of beauty. Aesthetic perfection is only one of the criteria. Grace, elegance, class, poise, joy, promise, hope… they are all embodied in a beautiful face.
This is the first time Filipinos entered the list since its inception in 1990.
