LISTEN: Neil Gaiman to Narrate the Audio Version of “The Sandman”

Neil Gaiman Sandman

Neil Gaiman is one of the most exciting authors of our time. He penned the epic The Sandman comic series and the books Good Omens, Stardust, Coraline, and more. Now, fans can enjoy The Sandman in a new way, as the author is set to narrate the audio version of the series.

Listen to a snippet below:

Gaiman announced the news of the audio version, saying, “Almost 30 years ago, Dirk Maggs approached DC about adapting The Sandman into audio form. It didn’t happen (although it was how Dirk and I first crossed paths) and I’m glad it didn’t happen, because we are in a Golden Age of audio drama right now, and Dirk and I are much better at what we are doing. This is a rich audio adaptation of The Sandman graphic novels, brilliantly crafted by Dirk Maggs, with an all-star cast. I’ve loved being there to talk casting, there to read the scripts and offer occasional advice, and there in the studios, watching magic get made and recording the narration. I can’t wait until the world hears what we’ve done.”

The Sandman tells the story of Dream of the Endless, the ruler of dreams. It has received critical acclaim and is one of the few graphic novels to make it on the New York Times bestseller list. Novelist and journalist Norman Mailer described it as “a comic strip for intellectuals.”

Not only is The Sandman getting an audio version, but it is also getting the Netflix treatment. Last year, it was announced that the streaming giant is working on a series adaptation of the graphic novel.

The Sandman audio drama will be released this summer.
