It’s been eight years since the spectacular film Avatar came out, and news keeps pouring out about the upcoming sequels. The latest? Titanic star Kate Winslet is set to join the second film!
The news was announced by director James Cameron in time for the 20th anniversary of Titanic, which he directed. He told Deadline, “Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career. I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”
There’s no word on Ronal’s role in the film, but Winslet will join the cast from the first film, Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang. New additions include Cliff Curtis and young actors who will portray the next generation of Na’vi.
Avatar‘s sequel will premiere on Dec. 18, 2020, followed by two more sequels scheduled on Dec. 17, 2021, Dec. 20, 2024, and Dec. 19, 2025.
