Kakie Pangilinan Gifts Mother Sharon Cuneta a Self-Composed Song ‘Megastar (Interlude)’

Frankie Pangilinan gave her mother, Sharon Cuneta, a thoughtful gift! The singer-songwriter revealed that she composed a song for her titled Megastar (Interlude), which she worked on with OPM boy band Kindred.

The Megastar released the song she sang herself featuring Kindred and with backing vocals of Kakie and her sister Miel Pangilinan!

In a lengthy Instagram post, Kakie shared her creative process and wrote a heartfelt message to her mother. She began recalling watching her in the recording studios when she was younger.

“Despite a career that’s spanned decades and affected generations beyond her own, she’d never owned a record of hers until i wrote this song at three in the morning when @ferntan_ [Kindred’s Fern Tan] sent me its bare bones. this is my gift to her,” [sic] she added.

The 22-year-old mentioned that the opening lyrics of the song “Maybe the DJ’s gone” reference Cuneta’s hit Mr. DJ composed by Rey Valera. She also said that 45 years have passed since the old song’s release, so she wrote “something about the same love only older, aged.”

Kakie went on thanking Kindred and appreciating their talents and efforts for helping her with the song. The OPM boyband even featured Cuneta in their latest song, Lambing ng Megastar.
