Yesterday, we shared the experience of Noelle Dolor, who experienced alleged discrimination while falling in line at a popular donut shop’s branch in Greenbelt, Makati City. Noelle’s story earned the ire of various netizens over the supposed preferential treatment of foreigners over Pinoys in their own land.
There is of course more than one side to a story, and we are glad to air J.CO Philippines’ side on the incident, as they shared their official statement with WhenInManila.com. As per the statement, J.Co Philippines has contacted the aggrieved parties, conducted an investigation on the incident, and meted out sanctions on the employees, as seen in the full statement below.
J.Co Philippines’ statement can also be found on their official Facebook page.
For what it’s worth, swift actions on these allegations are always appreciated.

That POS excuse again. What a stupid lie. The cashier already admitted that she served the foreigners first because they were white.
the best thing to do is really not to patronize J.CO products anymore ..it’s so insulting to us Filipinos being discriminated in our own country..and what of crew and manager are these people who courageously admitted that it’s because “PUTI KAYA INUNA DAHIL BAKA MAGALIT”… Are we not getting mad, too? Youa sked the customers to fall in line and wait for several minutes only to find out that foreigners esp. the PUTI are given special attention. IBOYCOTT NA YAN J.CO.
Sorry jco but the manner your manager handled the incident made it obvious that it is in your policy to cater first foreigners or else he would have reprimanded the cashier right there and then.
i do not buy the technical glitch reason. if the cashier was the same before the glitch and after it, makikita naman niya sigurong may nakapila.
BASIC ENGLISH: “hi ma’am/sir! sorry but there’s a line we’re following.” tapos humand gestures nalang sana siya. maii tindihan na yun mg puti.
This happened to my 9-year old daughter many times at different J.Co stores. Just because she is only 9, obviously younger than customers in line next to her, cashiers would ignore her (while saying her orders) and proceed with the older customers. My daughter would come back to me teary-eyed, saying, “Mama, hindi naman po nila ako pinapansin.”
As a mother, I would not let anyone turn my child down. What I’d do is, go straight to the cashier without falling in line and tell them right in their face how rude they were to a 9-year old. Pasalamat talaga sila wala akong panahon makipag-usap sa managers nila every time this kind of incident happened. Just sharing.
