Ivermectin to Undergo Clinical Trial in the Philippines

Clinical trials for Ivermectin underway as President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the study of the drug for COVID-19.

There has been a lot of stories about COVID-19 patients using ivermectin.

The antiparasitic drug is usually used for animals and there are potential dangers for human consumption. According to Food and Drug Administration Director-General Eric Domingo, the trials can be done in quarantine centers around Philippine General Hospital. He also added that the original plan was to wait for trial results and studies from other countries.

“He has been hearing a lot who are supporting its use but also of scientists saying it still lacks evidence”, Domingo said.

Though personalities shared that they were taking Ivermectin, Domingo shared that taking the drug should only be done with Doctor’s prescription.
