Whatever your feelings may be about this coming movie adaptation for a Broadway musical that’s still running on theater, you’ll have to agree that knowing Amy Adams is going to be a part of it just made “Dear Evan Hansen” worth the wait!
The Oscar-nominated Hollywood actress just signed on to join the cast of the movie musical about Evan Hansen, a High School student with social anxiety, making up a series of lies to the family of his deceased classmate after the parents mistake Evan’s letter to himself as his classmate’s suicide note.
Amy will be playing Cynthia Murphy, the mother of the classmate.
“Dear Evan Hansen” opened on Broadway in 2016 and went on to win multiple Tony Awards, Drama League Awards, and the 2018 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
Ben Platt, the original actor cast to play Evan Hansen in the theater production, will reprise his role in the movie adaptation.
