Italy records over 4,000 COVID-19 deaths, surpassing China’s total death toll

Just today, March 21, Italy has recorded it’s highest number of deaths in a day due to COVID-19 — a whopping total of 627, increasing its total death count to 4,032.

It is the largest daily increase the country has experienced since it was hit with the virus four weeks ago.

Italy has also already surpassed China, where COVID-19 originated, in having the most number of mortalities on Friday, March 20.

Recently, China has reported that the spread of the virus within the country has significantly slowed. A latest news update revealed that it has not gotten any new locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases for the first time since the outbreak began late last year, which is a huge turning point in the global battle to contain the virus.
