‘It is so insane and it’s also very romantic’ – Taika Waititi says on the romance in “Thor: Love and Thunder”

Taika Waititi turned heads in the Marvel Cinematic Universe world with Thor: Ragnarok and really capitalized on the whimsy and the grandeur that the narrative of Thor could truly have. I mean, intergalactic travel via a rainbow bridge, different creatures and races, and a crown and throne to sit upon like old kings? There was so much that could be done with that world and Taika Waititi turned the dial up to eleven with it–and we’re so glad we did.

This time around, he’s directing the cheekily named Thor: Love and Thunder, and, according to him, there will be plenty of love (as well as thunder). Natalie Portman will finally be reprising her role as Jane Foster despite her noticeable absence in the past few films. She will wield the hammer and be given the powers of Mighty Thor. So could we be expecting a rekindling between herself and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor?

“I think it’s going to be really good. We’ve finished, we’ve been writing the script off and on for over a year and I’m just, actually this week, doing another pass on it. It is so insane and it’s also very romantic. I’m into romances now. I just want to make a romance. I just want to make something that I’ve never done or never cared for. I would like to attack something like that.”

Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson, also talked about how she wanted to find herself a queen. Representation ftw!
