The annual AsiaPOP Comicon ended its fourth year with exciting news, eye-popping teasers, trailers and even episodes. The booths at the Netflix hall generally never cease to amaze me, but they definitely overdid themselves this year with the entire look feeling like it came straight out of our TV screens!
For those with a retro-themed feed, Riverdale’s famous Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe lit up its diner with Instagrammable corners covered with decades past photos hanging on the walls, black and white tiles, the neon sign ‘Diner’ with red and blue light emitting from it, and white seats that achieved the old school style of the diner.
Also, it was jampacked with people watching Josie and the Pussycats’ performance.
One of the main attractions of this booth was the Riverdale Class of 2018 Alumni photo. At this part of the diner, you could choose what to wear, a Riverdale jock jacket or a South Side Serpents leather jacket, and you’d also get to pick your favorite Riverdale character. After that, the staff would take your photo with matching frames and you’d get the QR code to get the photo.
The exterior part of the structure featured the tall neon sign seen in the series itself, and the graffiti that Jughead did, making every corner of the booth photogenic.
Another booth that caught my attention was the Stranger Things’ Palace Arcade. The interiors contained the Byers’ living room where it featured an art session, where you could draw and place your art on the walls to help find Will Byers.
The other half of the interiors reflected the arcade. They installed actual arcade machines for you to play on, featuring games like Ms Pacman. When I got inside, the crowd was checking out a certain door, which happened to change from a normal sunny environment to the Upside Down.
Hawkins is currently hiring lab technicians, scientist, and test subjects!
The Marvel part of the Netflix Hall featured Luke Cage and Iron Fist, where you could get a tattoo of your choice, spray paint the wall, and punch the wall like Danny Rand from Iron Fist! Of course, Marvel also had a specialty booth. This year, it was an 180-degree video where you could pretend to be a part of the Defenders!
It’s that time of the year where fans gather around the metro, to see their favourite artists and cast, supporting the local art businesses and We congratulate Asia Pop Comic Con for the successful event! 11/10 would go again.
