I have been very insecure of a lot things because I tend to feel pressured whenever something new comes up. Surely, every one of us has been insecure at least once at some point in our lives.
However, being comfortably confident with who you are is what really matters at the end of the day. You may be different from the norm, but that’s totally okay! The most important thing is that you are being yourself. Being you includes the way you act, the things you love, and even your clothing style!
To overcome the struggles of being distinctively you, StyleGenie CEO Abbie Victorino shared 7 tips on finding your own style.
How to Find Your Personal Style: 7 Tips from Abbie Victorino
7. Stand out!
Don’t be afraid to be different. Uniqueness is key to knowing your own style. To find your own unique style, explore and discover new things! Try out new hobbies, new genres of books, or new clothing styles. When a particular style attracts you, take note of it and continue to develop it.
6. Snap it!
To help you achieve the style you want, use visuals! Making vision boards or scrapbooks can definitely help you get your dream style. After creating one, place it near your bed to serve as a daily reminder of what you want to be. If you’re someone who opens his/her phone as soon as you wake up, why not Pinterest it? That way, you’ll be reminded of your dream style all the time!
5. Get inspired!
Surround yourself with things that inspire you! Seeing your favorite designers, celebrities, movies or artworks are just some of the endless things that can pump you up. Always keep this in mind, so that you’ll always be focused on everything that you do, be it your studies, your job, or your style goals.
4. Go on a treasure hunt!
To achieve your dream style, go out there and find stores with good deals! Try visiting thrift stores and look for vintage styles that would suit you. You may be different, but hey! You might become a new trendsetter with your own unique style.
3. Swift tailor!
If your own style can’t be found in any store, why not find a seamstress to bring your creativity to life? Better yet, try sewing your own clothes to make them more personal. Not only will you be able to create your own clothes, you’ll also be able to use your sewing skills to channel your inner stylist.

Ever felt like you overdid your look or style? If you did, maybe it would be best to tweak a few things. Always make sure that you don’t overdo it. If you’re going on a date and you’re wearing a ton of accessories and makeup, for example, try taking another look at yourself and leave some things behind. Your inner beauty should be the main star when creating your distinctive style.
1. Be yourself!
No matter what happens at the end of the day, the most important thing is that you are being yourself. Don’t be afraid of who you are! Diversity is the greatest gift of the universe to mankind. Hence, be proud of yourself regardless of being something different! As Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach said, “Confidently beautiful with a heart”.
