Hoka Trilogy Run Asia 2024 Concludes Manila Leg 1 With a Blast

Over 8,000 runners participated in the Manila Leg 1 of the 2024 Hoka Trilogy Run Asia – Manila on April 7 at SM Mall of Asia Grounds. The event was co-presented by RUNRIO, HOKA, Gatorade, Le Minerale, Sante Barley, PAGCOR, and the Department of Tourism.

“It’s fantastic. It’s encouraging that many people in the Philippines are taking fitness seriously,” said Derek Wyllie, Map Active PH Country General Manager.

National team members Richard Solano and Christine Hallasgo reigned supreme in Leg 1. Solano recorded the best mark among males in the 16K race, clocking in at 50 minutes and six seconds, two seconds faster than second placer Ricky Organiza (50:08) and distant third Kevin Cruz (53:28).

Hallasgo, meanwhile, stamped her class among the females with a time of one hour, one minute, and 47 seconds. Trailing her were Nhea Ann Barcena (1:03:13) and Maricar Camacho (1:05:52).

James Orduna (32:03) and Maria Jona Lina Abutas (42:24) topped the 10K race, while Noli Tore (16:14) and Jonezamie Sustituedo (23:13) were the fastest in the 5K race.

“Maraming aspiring na marathoners. So, gusto nating maging partner nila yung RUNRIO sa journey nila,” said Rio dela Cruz, RUNRIO Founder and CEO. “We created the Trilogy para progressive sya (16K, 21K, 32k then 42K) para gradual, parang part sya ng training nila at the same time maging goal nila ang makatapos ng first 42K,” Coach Rio added.

Aside from the fastest finishers, the top three per age group were also distinguished in the event, which was supported by Nyxsys, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Fitbar, Salonpas, Century Tuna, Rudy Project, Lanson Place, TRYP by Wyndham, Microtel by Wyndham, Milcu, Lubie, Red-G, Dermplus, Fearless Eve, Hey! Salad, ChloRelief, and Regroe.

Trilogy Run Asia has 19 races in 7 host cities nationwide, including the national finals. Leg 2 of the Manila race will be on June 2, while Leg 3 is on August 4. Other races will be held from June to October in Baguio, Cebu, Bacolod/Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao before the TRA National Finals on Dec. 8, which will have 10K, 21K, and 42K races.
