Habitat CEO, Daanbantayan Mayor grace student-led NGO launch for Yolanda victims
Mr. Charlie Ayco, CEO and Managing Director of Habitat for Humanity Philippines and Hon. Augusto Corro, Mayor of Daanbantayan, Cebu, are among the major stakeholders present during the NGO launch of One for One.

They reiterated their support for the advocacy of One for One, which is to help rebuild Daanbantayan, a community that was on the direct path of the strongest typhoon in history.
Other organizations present during the NGO launch on July 19 at the Pacific Plaza in Makati are the UP Law Class of 1989, Negrense Volunteers for Change Foundation, Inc., The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, and iBelong Philippines Foundation, Inc. Â All these groups expressed their commitment to partner with One for One to assist Daanbantayan.

“The Filipinos, including the Cebuanos in Daanbantayan, are a resilient people, and as much as we in the government are doing what we can, we also need the help of others,” Corro said.

One for One, an NGO formed by young students, volunteers, and lawyers from UP Diliman, will help rehabilitate the municipality through livelihood, shelter, and education.

Its goal is to enjoin as many organizations and individuals to donate as little as Php 250 to rebuild homes, provide boats, and give books for Daanbantayan residents, fisherfolk, and students, in time for the anniversary of Yolanda’s landfall this November.
“It is heartwarming to see such an initiative from our youth and Habitat is looking forward to helping rebuild
Daanbantayan through this student-led NGO,” Ayco added.

The goal of the group is to inspire others and harness the spirit of nation building by employing strategic partnerships and crowd funding, where anyone could help and make a difference.
