Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin are the image of a modern-day family: the two famously “unconsciously uncoupled” in 2014 before finalizing their divorce last year, and have remained close friends while co-parenting their two children. No bitterness and hard feelings, either: Gwyneth is engaged to Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk, while Chris prominently dated Jennifer Lawrence.
But while the two are completely amicable, Gwyneth shared that her split from Chris was the “most difficult thing” she’s ever had to go through, because she came from a family of successful marriages. The actress tried to make her divorce as easy as possible for her kids, while staying close with her ex-husband, which as many know isn’t easy.
Gwyneth said:
“I wanted to turn my divorce into a positive. What if I didn’t blame the other person for anything, and held myself 100% accountable? What if I checked my own s*** at the door and put my children first?”
Good on them.
