Lauren Mayberry
Co-headliner Chvrches performed for an hour and a half, starting off with their single, “Never Ending Circles”, bringing the audience into a good kind of trance. The Synthpop / Indie Electronica band led by the adorable Lauren Mayberry brought the house down with their catchy songs both coming from their “Every Open Eye” and “The Bones Of What You Believed” albums. Singing their hits like “Gun“, “Recover“, “Leave A Trace“, and “Make Them Gold“, the crowd welcomed Chvrches warmly with their open arms, excited screams, and smiling faces. This was their second time in Manila.
Passion Pit
Last but definitely not the least was Passion Pit‘s performance, opening their set with the crowd favorite, “Little Secrets“, which made everyone jump and dance on their feet. Indeed, they made our energy go higher and higher as the night went on. Despite cancelling last year for their solo concert in Manila, Passion Pit definitely made up for it, with a stellar 90-minute performance, and a solid encore right after. One of our favorite moments was singing along as they perform “Take A Walk“, with everyone taking over the chorus parts, chanting the lyrics as Michael Angelakos bask under the colorful lights on the stage. They closed their set by singing “Sleepyhead“, and we would not want it any other way.
The festival continued on until the wee hours of the morning, with the after party happening at the beat tent, featuring performances by Shadow Moses X Ninno, DJ Darius, Busy P, and MYD.
All in all, everyone definitely went home with huge smiles on their faces, a terrible (not really) LSS that would end for days and a heart full of good vibes. It was the perfect way to jump start the music festivals happening this year, and we surely look forward to more. See you next year! 🙂
